Devil Effigies Empty Devil Effigies

Fri 12 Jul 2019 - 2:55
Has any one else seen portable rock art with possible "devil" motifs ?
There are a few faces in this piece but this stands out the most. The photo does not do it justice. The "horns", eyes and mouth are cut deeply. The chin juts out. This rock is 8" tall and weighs 6 pounds.

I do have a pretty good one, but lacking horns, so just a face that the artist sculpted with an apparent negative bias. Interestingly the 'horn' on this sample is actually the thumb motif. I will post a video on thumb motifs sooner or later, and you will see the shape is actually very well defined.

Oh yes they did carve demonic looking faces in Stone! I was digging. On our land and uncovered what I thought was a large piece of Art but when I had brushed the dirt from part of the face it appeared to be demonic in nature! It also had a quartz snake shaped eye! It scared me to point of I covered it right back up and left that particular area! Didn’t tell my friend that was with me til after we moved off of that site! Didn’t want her to make me dig it back up! That one discovered piece made me aware that ancient man did have a very good imagination and skill! More so than he is given credit for possessing! Because if the demon rocks were not from his imagination then it would have to come from a visual aid! As in he saw these things walking around and frankly if that is the case I am extremely glad I was born after those particular visual aids vanished!

Some Paleolithic art was inspired by “visions” using mind altering psychoactive plants and alcohol. Guerra-Doce “Far from being consumed for hedonistic (pleasure) purposes, drug plants and alcoholic drinks had a sacred role among prehistoric societies.” Recent research on drug-taking behaviors looked at decades of archaeological evidence to see how prevalent the use of psychoactive substances and other reality-bending practices was in prehistory. Psychoactive drug use was common practice all over the world down through the ages.
"Devil" or "demon" carved rocks could possibly be inspired by these "visions"
