Ceremonial Portable Rock Art

This piece was found in NB Canada in the same location as countless other portable rock art.
The "handle" fits very comfortably in the right hand showing the front view facing the person holding it.
It must have been a ceremonial piece as the rock is really worn smooth where the fingers wrap around the handle, indicating long term usage.
It's also self standing and the bottom is unusually smooth.

Very nice. Are the divots for attachment to a handle by straps or whatever they may use?

In the previous example above, the semi circular layers of rocks below what appears to be a lion's head are natural. I have a few pieces where they used the naturally formed layers as part of the rock art design. Saves a lot of extra work.

Interesting, I tend to stay clear of the terms ritual and ceremonial.... what could actually give true evidence of those? but that first item certainly has a lot of right angles, beyond chance..........
