Thunderbird would be the logical interpretation. Another really neat find. Do you know what material it is? I'm trying to work out weather it is a figure stone or not? it almost seems like it is as other areas of the find kind of fit with popular figuration, however the artist could calve the bird shape so I would expect more details for any other deliberate figuration.

Im not sure. I think limestone. Its got a weird feel to it. I have been asked if it was for sale already.

It almost looks like its ceramic, although why calve pottery when someone could of easily molded it in the first place. i am not at all surprised at the quick offer, its a very nice find and old Indian art is popular.

It not only appears to be a Thunderbird there also appears to be a face on the left wing and a snake head on the right wing.
