Art or rocks?
Sat Jul 10, 2021 1:59 am
These were found in Texas. Im convinced that I see a rhino face in the first picture. It’s nose is towards the upper right. Im pretty sure the second is just a very strange natural rock but would appreciate any input anyone has. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The left eye appears to be drilled and the other marks in yellow appear to be incised. The mouth and right eye maybe natural it's hard to tell from the photo.

Not to easy to detect workmanship from the photos due to heavy water wear, the first one shows a nice combo of two common subjects, the bust of a hybrid or proto human, and a type of extict rhino, like a paracerapharium, although this example seems to have a shorter neck. As with all interpretation, subjective, but quantity and quality add more weight.
The second I'm not quite getting it, could be bad angles, possible lady garden description, although highly subjective, a common glyph, but usually so lacking detail, that un-confirmable.

Just noticed good large eared elephant and front leg symbology in the second one, very likely to be a figure stone.

The reasons Paraceratherium became extinct after surviving for about 11 million years are unknown, but it is unlikely that there was a single cause. Theories include climate change, low reproduction rate, and invasion by gomphothere proboscideans from Africa in the late Oligocene (between 28 and 23 million years ago

Woolly rhinos were common in Eurasia surviving up until 10,000 years ago. Most mainstream sources assume woolly rhinos never entered North America only because those remains haven’t been discovered yet. Earlier rhino genera did exist in North America for millions of years and those remains have been found.
