I see  lots of figures,  also the  ape like  on all sides.

Lots of symbols  elephants  A few serpents .
Some devilish horned depictions,  there is a Seahorse,
Ive been amazed by this one    There is so much detail

The whole piece at this angle appears to be an animals head facing left. There may be many symbols on the side however the photo is too far out of focus to tell.

Still not enough resolution to make out anything definitive on the sides. However this may be an incised face (circled in yellow)

I just noticed the same 'worm' fossil I have in the Thames pick from my blog. i think it has been used as a strike a lite, with all those iron patches on it.

There so detailed  aren’t they.
As you say definitely used for striking a light

So many images so many angles and faces
Symbols ,

Smooth wear for fingers, fits snug . Left hand. I’ll upload some pictures tomorrow

Finally it yealds some crude figuration for me, the bear head with the squared muzzle in the first of your latest pics, and a very weak elephant head and front leg in the second. It certainly seems to have an interesting history, (possible hammer stone and strike a lite). I don't think the scaling is due to burning, as in a 'pot boiler'. I know a site that is littered with pot boilers, or simply burnt flint, when I am next there i will collect some and post a pic to show the difference. Thanks for the share.

Baggy, have you tried searching golden gravel? it's not difficult to find stones that are easy to read, and trigger the basic lexicon of motifs I often rattle on about on my blog.

Hi everyone
I’m Dave from Clacton-on-Sea on sea uk
Hi Brett / Rocky sorry I’ve not been in touch lately
I’ve come across this interesting piece
It appears to be a hardened clay
Almost metallic
It has the usual faces /heads etc
But looks like there maybe some sort of text almost
Sorry if my pics are not too good
Poor eyesight and bad lighting
I thought it’s best too share this
And hope I’ll be welcome to show you all
Some other interesting bits and bobs I’ve found
All the best

Hi Dave, great to hear from you again, unfortunately the picture didn't post, if you have trouble posting pics just email it to me and I can edit it in place, or give you a thread in the Europe section of your own. Your not the only person to have found what looks like script on a figure stone, your find would be very interesting to see.

Thanks, Brett.

Oh and BTW, Clacton on sea should be an ideal hunting location, many of my finds have similarities with what are described as Clactonian tools, and a close look at the original Clactonoian assemblages will no doubt reveal figurative depictions.

Hi Brett
Thanks ,
Yes I’m very lucky to live here in clacton
All my material was found when our beaches
We’re re charged with millions of tons of dredged material
Dredged from 20 km offshore and up to 7 metres deep
And it was pumped onto our beaches
This piece appears to be a fossil .its almost metallic
It also appears to be a tool .and is clearly worked
Along the beak area of the bird looking creature
And is very thin along this point
What appears to be script only appears on one side
As far as I can work out
It’s about 5 inches in height .and weighs 225grms
Mammoths and other images can be seen
I like to know what this may be
Any help would be very appreciated

Hi Brett
Thanks for the advise
Sorry about the duplicates
I have some more items in this material
The main object seems to be a fossil?
The other items appear to be a hardened oxidised clay ?
Strange stuff
Any ideas ?
Thanks

Nice selection, one definitely looks like a worked tool, they also look to be pyritsed..... As for it being a fossil, I have re-posted and am waiting to find out what it may be?
As for the script I see what looks like the original form Hebrew Aleph, which also looks like one of the Newberry tablet symbols, some other matches too :- https://noahsage.com/tag/genevieve-von-petzinger/

Assuming that the hole at the top was drilled in order to make a figurative description, we have a good profile likeness of a Hadrasourus.

One opinion is: Reckon it's a diagenetic clay/ironstone, that has undergone expansion to produce cracking similar to the crust on a loaf of bread.
