Portable Rock Art - Bears

Welcome to our delightful forum section dedicated to portable rock art bear depictions! Post your best bear finds here as we embark on an exciting journey exploring the fascinating representations of bears in various forms. Usually with a squared off muzzle (trigger), typically found in head or front half profiles, or the occasional bear in face frontal view, this section showcases the wonderful diversity of bear artistry. And of course bear in mind with my finds you'll see artistic charming touches like tiny ochre etchings and the use of black pigment.
These magnificent creatures have captured our imaginations throughout history perhaps they were feared or prised for there hides, and it's no different in the realm of artistic expressions. Among the usual topologies, the squared off muzzle stands out as a distinctive feature in many depictions. Whether captured in the majestic profile of their head or the striking front half profile, bears never fail to inspire awe as they no doubt did for our extremely ancient artistic ancestors.
This fist one is a double half bear with striking detail, both left and right facing in one artifact, obvious evidence of amazing skill and craftsmanship.
This next one is also from the same find location.
I have plenty more to add here, probably the best bear portable rock art bear finds to be found anywhere.

The previous piece of portable rock art had some quite graphic depictions, the ambiguous illusion is genius. I have noticed how many finds have possible intimate descriptions, Usually just focusing on genitalia in an abstract way, but this piece appears to display the full process in differing positions in simple side view figure form. I will clean this stone at some point, as I notice some very tiny intricate details and there is no doubt more to revealed here.
The next one is from Anil in England, its a pretty good piece and demonstrates the bear front half and squared off muzzle nicely.
These next two are mine but are really nothing to write home about, just the potential age, like the graphic one in the last post is possibly huge, coming from an age before all the faulty fossil record narrative would indicate as possible!

This is another Bear head in white flint from my find site, right facing. I'm actually disappointed with how it appears in a photograph on a large screen (as its really clear in real life, eyeball detail), rather like hugely scaled up comic or news paper print, the stippling in the ink, and the spaces between each ink spot make the image rather disjointed. To over come this just squint your eyes, or look at the smaller version in the bottom right corner of the photo. This probably appears fine on a mobile phone. The find has other face profiles too, with what's apparently the usual black tar like pigment used for eye detailing.

If figurative, then possibly bear head profiles is my best guess Amy.

Well it might not even be art then, if it has a clear eye, mouth, nose etc then try to work out what it is, the last is similar to a whole bison profile, but again details proof of figuration first, then try to work out the mystery beast in amongst the other clear depictions.

The left facing profile looks like a bear, the right side looks bovine, but could be something else?

I can see a whole bear there now.
