Mon Dec 18, 2023 2:26 pm
These 3 pieces are very good effigies;although not stone. One clearly is shell I think the other 2 are petrified wood.I will show pics of both sides and acouple angles. Brett let me know if these dont qualify for this category.

I couldn't qualify these as either elephant, bear or face frontal, but still they ate very interesting, the shell certainly does give a face profile description, although the face of what exactly I do not know. Likely just paradolia. The next one looks very much like an owl with a very quick parousal.

Yes, the owl one looks very much like a genuine figure stone.

It could be modified? Like those shell finds I detected figuration in before, however there I had a large sample to make comparisons with. Modifying shells would make great sense from a figurative perspective, everyone can have exactly the same poly symbolic tool with very little effort, and removal of much of the error in conveyance of any meaning.

This last piece is one I found recently...3weeks ago....it's very heavy . Although not as clearly seen as on the others it does have napping. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I've not seen anything that comes close to this yet though, straight from my site that has the actual figurative flint tools to back it up.
