Portable rock art - Theropod
Tue May 23, 2023 5:12 pm
This rock art find also possibly shows a theropod description, and just like another find posted sometime back, in combination with an ape like face profile. Black pigment and iron based ochre traces are present here as is often the case, this is another potentially multi-million year old find if geology has any credibility of coarse, and even the deposits it originated from are completely out of any archaeological context, so being found in a '4 million' year old gravel deposit does not date this find to '4 million' years old, it most likely had to erode from somewhere to be washed into that gravel deposit.

These two portable rock art pieces both have dinosaur like descriptions, but also have horse like resemblances. I have noted previously that other finds appear to have both combined. The second of these two has pigment in a nice chip that makes a great eye with pupil, possible iron leaching can be seen there.

This is the reverse side of the above portable rock art piece, notice the large eye shape at the top complete with pigmentated pupil details, are other rock art proponents displaying such details in their finds? Along the bottom edge of the find you can see some very obvious workmanship in a line of flake removals, just above this (zoomed in on the left) is a face frontal description, again with pigment spot details for eye pupils.

This is a very complex piece of portal rock art, it really is fully featured, beyond the scope of this thread. Some classic glyph content is here in very cleverly designed piece of ambiguous optical illusion sculpture with applied pigment. SUGESTION: squint your eyes to help in viewing.
Suggested contents, T-rex head, sleeping duck, thumb, feline face, Australopithecus face, elephant head and front leg, and I'm sure there is much more.

This next piece of portable rock art is from my find site here in Southern England, the site that literally revolutionised the whole world of portable rock art, figure stones and prehistoric art understanding. In the standard white flint that most of the art and flint tool assemblage from the site are in. You may need to squint your eyes to appreciate this find. It appears to show a lizard like face, facing left, and then a very similar face when flipped facing right. When you squint your eyes you should be able to see eye and even pupil detail more clearly. There is also a face frontal on the bottom right of the stone, although not upright, the pigment is very washed out and faded, although two eyes and nostrils can be interpreted here, probably an Australopithecus depiction.

This piece of portable rock art is a figure stone and is likely also an eolith as it comes from ancient gravel deposits, its self authenticating via its topology and interpreted content, this is a scientific analysis, however as is often the case such interpretations are subjective conjecture, it in no way guarantees that the interpreted species are the intended subjects the artist wished to convey. Both male and female parts can be interpreted here, as is often the case with genuine figure stones, a dinosaur like depiction can also be seen, complete with composite tooth feature. Other simplistic shapes may also convey meaning, so an elephants head and trunk, and bovine front half are also very likely subjects here.

Ancient Dinosaur Art

This is a worked find, it is an artifact, it has artistically applied pigments, at least two types maybe three, Pecking can be seen near one of the eye features. It looks to show images of dinosaur head profile descriptions. Although found outside of an archaeological context, removed from its stratified geological resting place, the layer it came from would very likely be described by a professional geologist as being millions of years in age. Those are the facts.
