Here is a link to a paper on Neanderthal knapping strategies recently reported on by the ancient origins and graham Hancock sites. I found the parts about gazing into the stone and 3 dimensional and rotational imagination very interesting. I think those that come here know what happens when you start examining rocks too close, and 3D and rotational both seem descriptive of the art I have found.
